Caffeine and Me!

caffeine-free Coca-Colacaffeine-free Coca-Cola

Ground Coffee,Original Blend, Medium Roast

I love cokes and coffee, unfortunately, I can't handle the caffeine! There's nothing like the first few swallows of a great pot of coffee or the stinging refreshing taste of coke.

When I drink a lot of caffeine I become a chatterbox, it's like my brain speeds up, taking my mouth with it.  I'm on a high, then comes the crash!  Caffeine can spin me into a funk, it will keep me awake at night if I drink it to late.  If I drink caffeine several days in a row, my neck becomes tense, I become irritable and quick tempered.  The reason I'm talking about this is that I've had too much caffeine the last few days and I'm going to have to wean myself away from the lovely stuff.  This will encompass acquiring a headache, a sharp tongue and plain old irritability.  But hey, a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do.

How does caffeine affect y'all?

I love Dunkin Donuts coffee...it's the best. Caffeine doesn't do me in too bad, but I definitely can't have it past 3 or 4 in the afternoon or I will be up all night.

Oh Judy, I feel for you, I hate those caffeine withdrawal headaches. I drink iced coffee year round, probably not a good thing, and I know it revs me up.

Maybe you should just taper it down slowly, over a few days.... good luck!

Same here, Judy, I turn into a chatterbox, LOL! But I do love coffee :-)

My coffee consumption is relegated to the workplace. However, the first time that I imbibed I had about four cups and felt nervous and had a tight feeling in my chest for the rest of the day.

Well, I'm addicted to tea. And that is both an Indian and an Irish trait!

I don't have too much of it, and generally I don't notice much of an effect. Sometimes if the coffee is really strong it makes me feel nauseated and jittery!

HiYa, Judy! ~
I've found that if I add a lot of "Irish" to my coffee it helps tone down the effects of the caffeine. (Or maybe I just don't notice them as much.)

OK, but seriously now . . .

At one time I was a "Caffiend" but have long since gotten myself off the stuffs. I never drink tea and rarely even drink coffee now. I do drink a lot of water, which one must do under the Phoenix sun otherwise they will just dry up, turn to dust, and blow away.

I drink more water than anything else but - shhh! - don't tell anyone that. It would be bad for my "Dean Martinish" reputation.

I'm the same...I get very chatty and perky when I drink coffee, so I drink it less than I used to. I drink Coca Cola more and I'm trying to kick that habit too, but it's so hard. I'm from Georgia and I was truly raised on the stuff..LOL. I'm gonna try to get down to two Coca Colas per week...wish me luck and lots of luck to you in your quest :)

As my wise mother would say, "Too much of a good thing, spoils it."

I love the smell of the morning coffee brewing. Then, savouring those 2 cups. I'd love more, but restrict myself.

Wish it were as easy for some of those other treats I like oh so well.

I get really easily addicted to it. It doesn't seem to do much for me though except give me nightmares if I drink to much of it before bed. I really try to stay away from it because when I do slip up and have it for a couple days it's tough to deal with the withdrawal.

I love Coke over Pepsi (yes I hear the boos). I drink very little soda these days. But coffee - every day!! I guess I am lucky in that caffeine doesn't make me hyper or anything, but if I can't drink it I will have a horrible headache for a couple of days.
